Intern with SEPA
The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to helping utilities integrate solar into their energy portfolio for the benefit of the utility, its customers and the public good. With more than 1,000 utility and solar industry members, SEPA provides unbiased utility solar market intelligence, up-to-date information about technologies and business models, and peer-to-peer interaction. From hosting national events to one-on-one counseling, SEPA helps utilities make smart solar decisions.
SEPA offers internships to college students in their Junior or Senior year, as well as graduate students, to gain experience with the inner workings of non-profit organizations and the solar industry. At the end of a SEPA internship, our students will have a better understanding of the challenges utilities encounter when adding solar to their portfolios, the role membership plays in a non-profit association, and how to effectively communicate in a quickly growing industry.
SEPA Interns have the opportunity to work within three different departments:
Research Interns will typically perform general research tasks to support the Utility Solar Activities Database, develop new Solar Case Studies, assist in the development of the SEPA newsletter, and fulfill staff and member research requests.
Member Relations Interns typically assist the Membership team in identifying prospective members, updating membership information to ensure accuracy, and serve as a point of contact for current members in their requests to SEPA.
Marketing and Communications:
Communications Interns typically assist will all of SEPA’s communications efforts including product and event promotion, public relations, and member communications. Interns will report on email performance, monitor news sites, and analyze social media metrics.
SEPA internship alumni have gone on to many different areas of the energy field. They hold positions such as Energy Analysts, Business Development Consultants, and Energy Research Attorneys.
SEPA does provide a small stipend.
