"Smart Utility Partnerships: How Tucson Electric Power and the University of Arizona are Tackling Key Solar Issues and Maximizing Results"

Thursday, February 16, 2012

11am Pacific/2pm Eastern. Estimated duration: 1 hour.

Please join us as Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and the University of Arizona’s, Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy (AzRISE) share their experience and results on selected solar research projects.  Hear how this fruitful partnership is maximizing TEP’s support and producing solid results in a variety of areas including actual PV panel field performance.  TEP will describe the utility’s participation and the multiple benefits being realized, including important ancillary benefits in the areas of stakeholder engagement and community outreach.

AzRISE will discuss a few of their projects at the TEP Solar Test Yard including field performance and degradation study results. Speakers will focus on the test field results, while also including other current (R&D, forecasting) and developing (energy storage) work being performed.

Webinar participants will have the opportunity to submit questions following the speaker presentations.

Utility webinar registrants will receive an extended “early-bird” special registration discount for the 2012 Utility Solar Conference (USC), where you will hear more from TEP!  The pre-conference USC Solar Tour will include sites discussed on the webinar – and more!  Information will be provided after the webinar.

"Heating Up: The Impact of Third-Party Business Models on the U.S. Market for Solar Water and Space Heating"

Thursday, March 01, 2012

11am Pacific/2pm Eastern. Estimated duration: 1 hour.

Join solar market experts as they discuss key findings from SEPA’s recently published solar water heating report, “Heating Up: The Impact of Third-Party Business Models on the U.S. Market for Solar Water and Space Heating.”  Unlike photovoltaic markets, which grew rapidly through the use of third-party ownership in both commercial and residential markets, solar water heating markets have yet to adopt a similar consumer-friendly model.  The report discusses this paradox and identifies third-party business models used by solar thermal providers and the potential opportunities for growth in this market.  This webinar will discuss the various financing models being employed for solar water heating nationally, and the best opportunities for rapid growth in the market.

Speaker(s):  Jill Cliburn, President, Cliburn and Associates, LLC; Sandra Burton, Regional Director, Eastern US, SEPA (Moderator)

Cost:  Free to SEPA Members and Media (subject to verification); $199 Non-members

Target Audience:  All utility and solar stakeholders working within or interested in solar water heating markets.

Interested in Sponsoring a SEPA Webinar?

SEPA has created a new opportunity for our solar industry members to showcase their knowledge and experience in front of the country's leading utilities in the form of a Sponsored Educational Webinar.

We invite you to submit ideas for content and participate in a sponsored webinar that would be relevant for SEPA's utility audience.  Your abstract will be reviewed by the Education Committee and those selected will be asked to provide a sponsorship fee of $5,000.  We encourage our sponsors to partner with a utility to co-present the webinar content. The content of the webinar should be educational, not commercial, in nature and should focus on the utility members as the target audience.  If you wish to learn more about the benefits of sponsorship, or have any questions, please contact Cynthia Hunt Jaehne at 202.595.1148 or cjaehne@solarelectricpower.org.
